Sunday Snippet – Jackie Ashenden

Another from the current WIP,  Talking Dirty with the Player (working title)…

“Hi there, babycakes,” Caleb drawled, that maddening, teasing smile playing around his sensual mouth. “Back in black, I see. I think I preferred you in green.”

With an effort, Judith pulled herself together. “Isn’t it lucky I don’t dress to please you in that case?”

A frown creased his forehead. “Your shirt’s uneven.”

“It’s called asymmetric. A little thing called fashion. You wouldn’t know anything about it.”

“Asymmetric huh? I suppose you paid good money for an uneven shirt?”

“It’s a tunic. And it’s Zambesi.”

“Zambesi, the Nile, some river, whatever. It’s still uneven and I still preferred you in green.”

Judith ignored the casual dismissal of one of New Zealand’s premier design houses and a tunic that had cost at least five hundred dollars. Instead she looked pointedly at her watch. “Well, as much fun as talking about clothes with you is, shall we talk about the reason you’re actually here? I have clients this afternoon and don’t have all day.”

His smile became lazy. “Ah, babycakes, I love it when you get all bossy and professional. It’s quite sexy.”

Sunday Snippet – A teaser from Lucky’s book – Robin Covington

Hello Friends! I’m headed off to the pool with the kiddos but here’s a teaser snippet from “His Southern Temptation” the sequel to “A Night of Southern Comfort”. It’s Lucky’s book and he’s as delicious as I thought he’d be . . .

“What the hell are you doing here?” Shock, instant remorse at the way he’d tackled her, and the crazy need to touch threaded together in his mind in a confusing jumble of conflicting desires. The only clear thought was that Taylor was here—in the flesh— after all these years. He didn’t even mind his hands shaking as he released her arms from over her head, and trailed his fingers down one smooth cheek only stopping to cup her jaw in a light grip that forced her to maintain eye contact. Not that he needed to—her gaze never wavered from his. The warmth of welcome and the edge of heat in her expression made his fingertips tingle where they stroked her skin. “The last time I saw you, you were stealing my car.”

Have a great day!

Sunday Snippet – Amy Andrews

From my upcomingIndulgence release – Taming the Tycoon.

“What do you want, Nate?”

Nate pushed his hands on his hips as he considered several responses but the pound of his pulse and the throb in his groin overruled his basic gentlemanly decorum.

“You,” he said roughly.

He watched as her eyes widened and heard her swiftly indrawn breath. “And what does that mean exactly?” she asked, her throat bobbing.

“It means in a few seconds I’m going to kiss you—long and hard—and then I’m going to throw you on a bed or hell, the floor if the bed’s just too damn far and I’m going to strip off your clothes and make you come loud enough to give every tourist here today something to really take home with them and if you don’t want that, Addie, you’d better speak up now because I’m barely hanging on by a thread here.”

He was breathing hard when he finished, his chest thudding as the images he’d described zinged through his blood stream adding to the heat that already had him in its grip.

Her grey eyes held his and he could see her shock. But the mad flutter in the hollow at the base of her throat, the unevenness of her breath and the flare of her nostrils told another story.

And she didn’t speak. She didn’t object. She didn’t move.

She just stood right there waiting.

“Right,” he said, snagging her wrist and pulling her hard against him. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

Sunday Snippet – Michele de Winton

And here’s a little more from The Boss and Her Billionaire – out now!

“Had she really just offended the guy who now knew her stupid secret? The guy who was a wonderful listener, gave good advice and…and what? And made her feel like more of a woman than she had in a long time.

“Welcome again, anyway,” she said.

Welcome again? What sort of lousy line was that?

Don’t make this more than it is.

“I won’t tell anyone,” Dylan said.

Breathe in, breathe out, you’re in control, you’re in charge. She recited her mantra.

“I should hope not. You promised you wouldn’t.” Michaela tried to convey authority with her tone, but it was a little hard after she’d just spilled her guts to him.

She thanked the gods again that it was dark.

“I never break a promise.”

Deep breath in, deep breath out, no need to go into a spin because he’s a wonderful listener, insanely hot, and apparently available.

“See you tomorrow, first thing.” Michaela threw the comment over her shoulder as she walked off with as much dignity as she could muster. She’d just have to hope he was true to his word—and that, in the future, she could keep her reactions more under control.”

This one is from the current WIP – Book 2 in my Indulgence series due to be published 2013…

“Oh don’t be like that,” he said. “You missed me. Admit it.”
“Yeah. Like I miss gonorrhoea.”
One dark brow rose. “You’ve had gonorrhoea?”
Judith sighed. He was all about the witty comeback. Not. “Oh, shut up, Caleb.”
“See, this is what I’ve missed while I’ve been away. I say something then you say something, then I say something back and you end with ‘shut up, Caleb’. We always have such great, in-depth conversation.”
